If that's all I can ge asan answer, then it isn't a sign of competence to me. Sure, I can almost hear the responses "get yourself a real operating system, not this crap !". I had thought that a properly designed operating system, should be able to kill EVERYTHING, especially especially programs. What actually astonishes me is the fact that It keeps me very effectively from shutting down my system. And what's worse : It even listens to windows messages telling it it should close ! At least I deduce this from the fact that opening the task manager by strg alt ent, it is listed, but when I press the button "end task", nothing happens. The xpcom event receiver even keeps my Win98SE system from properly shutting down. It doesn't stop itself, so I must kill it manually (for example by using the Process Explorer from SysInternals).īut anyway, the XPCOM:EVENT RECEIVER still keeps on running, even more zombie-like, because it does nothing. However, when I look at the tasks still running (using the Process Explorer or Quardrerdeck's Crash Defender), I still see firefox running in the background, like a zombie. Symptoms : At one point, Firefox is seemingly closed when I exit the program pretty normal. It *might* have something to do with having too many extensions installed. Personally, I have this problem since a few versions of Firefox already.
